About Miller Agritec Seed
Our STORY
The Miller family settled in Fortier, Manitoba in 1891. Our roots run deep in our community, and from one generation to the next we’ve continued to nurture local business ties, strengthen our partnerships with Canadian seed companies, and build more and more relationships with producers from east of Winnipeg to the Saskatchewan border.
In the 1960s, Bob Miller took up custom seed cleaning, and in the ‘90s his son Darcy became a pedigreed seed producer and cleaner. Sadly, Darcy passed away several years ago, but his wife Andrea and their four children have picked up where he left off.
Today, Miller Agritec Seed employs an expert team of local seed professionals. Our pedigreed seed services continue to grow, and our family still farms 4,200 acres west of Winnipeg. Farming, after all, has given us the insight to offer the very best in pedigreed seed production and cleaning. Like we say, “We grow it so we know it.”

TRIBUTE
In 2016, we said a sad goodbye to a man who will never be replaced. Darcy Miller, who passed away from cancer, had the vision to develop Miller Agritec as a pedigreed seed service, all the while operating the family farm. He also planned strategically, hiring Steven Chabot as General Manager and Sales Manager to assist wife Andrea in the business’s operation.
Darcy always encouraged us to treat customers as friends, and his philanthropy and community involvement leaves a legacy to this day. Our farm family lovingly remembers his smile, laugh, and passion for life.
It’s in Darcy’s honour that we endeavour to continue serving our customers as he did.

Our HERITAGE
1891
1908
The Millers move their operation to their present site.
1948
Bob Miller takes over the farm at 20 years of age. He marries Eva, a local school teacher.
1960
Bob starts custom seed cleaning for local farmers, often for a month in the spring.
1970
Bob’s son Darcy starts following in his father’s footsteps to becoming a farmer.
1983
At 17, Darcy takes on his first field.
1986
Darcy attends the University of Manitoba to complete his Diploma in Agriculture. He graduates as valedictorian.
1992
Darcy becomes a Pedigreed Seed Processor and Grower and expands his father’s seed cleaning business.
1998
Darcy is honoured as Young Farmer of the Year.
2002
Darcy and Andrea are married.
2002
Darcy moves the seed cleaners from the old Fortier school to its present location.
2002
Darcy grows the seed plant yard to its current size while expanding his land base.
